Growing in faith together…Faith is a gift freely given to each of us by God. If we do not hold fast to it - strengthen and build it up - then we can lose it. Scripture says: "For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." [2 Peter 1:5-8]. Spiritual growth, is therefore essential to our remaining steadfast in Him and becoming closer to Jesus Christ. It is ultimately our path to eternal life.

By faith we: i) encounter Jesus in the sacraments and at Mass; ii) seek His counsel and guidance through our prayer life; iii) get to know Him more intimately through the Scriptures; and iv) imitate His love by improving our relationship with each other.

Our efforts to find joy in life without God often result in lives that are unhappy and unsatisfied. Augustine tells us that "Our hearts are restless till they rest in You". Only God can truly fill our hearts and lives with a joy and peace that passes all understanding. Faith allows us to surrender to the arms of a merciful and loving God who will never leave us nor forsake us. It is faith that draws us into a personal and committed relationship with Him.
