Today's Byte

We often use symbols to understand the mystery of our God, the journey of life and the meaning of love. God, who created life, is the fullness of love. Since human beings are limited in nature, then it is impossible to completely define God, answer all the questions of life, or comprehend the true extent of love. Therefore, we use symbols to express the limitless truths we encounter. The heart has been embraced as the symbol of love. It is easily recognized and understood as an expression of love. Believers even speak of the sacred heart of Jesus. But Jesus also offers another symbol of love. He said, 'No greater love is there than to lay down one's life for another' (Jn. 15:13) as He went to the cross. The bread of His love (Mk. 8:14-21), has changed and saved the world. On this Valentine's Day, am I ready to show love through the cross? Lord, may Your grace empower me to carry the cross so that I may reveal Your saving love to the world. Amen.
