How do we show gratitude to the Lord? God saved all who were in the ark from the flood. He subsequently caused the water to recede allowed them to return to dry land. Noah revealed his thanks by building an altar and offering sacrifice to the Almighty (Gn. 8:20). Noah showed his gratitude by performing a practical action that was in keeping with the culture and custom of the day. Believers in Christ no longer offer burnt offerings on the altar. We believe that Jesus' sacrifice on the 'altar' of the cross is the one, true and perfect act that can never be replaced (Heb. 10:10). We who follow the Lord, are invited to allow His word and Spirit to shape our lives. Our practical gesture of gratitude is to live a life of 'sacrifice' pleasing to God, by our ongoing conversion and fidelity. Lord, may my life of love and sacrifice to Your will find favour in Your sight. Amen.
