Lenten Bytes

"If you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your sins" (Mt. 6:15). Our Lenten journey invites us to spend quality time in prayerful introspection. Our reflection should examine our interactions with others and ourselves. It is a time to honestly identify those times when we disobey God's word and do not yield to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. We humbly acknowledge our sins so that we may know the power of God's love and mercy. When we identify those moments with others that are not rooted in love and mercy, we should have the courage to pray for the grace to forgive them, and the will to do better for the glory of God. Jesus reveals that our stubbornness to forgive others forms a barrier to being forgiven by our Father. Although God is ready to forgive, He cannot force us to forgive nor embrace His mercy. When we choose to forgive others, God's grace cleanses us. Lord Jesus, as a sign of my gratitude for Your forgiveness for my sins, help me to reveal Your love by forgiving others as You desire. Amen.
