In today's gospel, Jesus said, "Do not work for food that perishes, but for the food that endures for eternal life" (Jn. 6:27). Since it is the eternal that matters, how much energy and time do we give to the ephemeral that either vanishes or which we leave behind? As we do what is necessary for the advancement of self, the safety and well-being of our families, the development of our country and world, let us ensure that we involve our Lord in all our activities, so that His word and the values of His eternal kingdom will guide us in this world, and prepare us for the world to come.
Lord Jesus, may all our lives and activities be dedicated to Your glory, so that we may please you in this world, and truly anticipate spending eternity with You in heaven. Amen.
