True believers should be prepared for various struggles in our lives. This is because gospel values and worldly values are not always aligned. Jesus reveals this contrast between the world and disciples in today's gospel (Jn. 16:20). We will have internal struggles as we strive to embrace God's word, even as we battle against selfishness and the temptation to sin. Our relationship with others will have challenges when virtue clashes with vice. But if we seek the Lord, His grace will guide us. Lord Jesus, help us to seek first Your kingdom and live in the power of Your word and Spirit. Amen.
