The state of our hearts and disposition towards another person based on personal choice, agenda or being influenced, all affect the way we relate with that individual. The words and actions that are manifested will be positive or negative, depending on whether we begin from a place of light or darkness. Choice in relating with another can be based on age, status, race, colour or religion. Agenda can be founded on seeking to control, exacting revenge or aiming to discredit the other. Influencing or being influenced by our emotions or other people can be for good or ill. We see how these attributes are displayed in today's gospel (Mk. 12:1-12). In the end, only genuine love can elevate and heal. Lord Jesus, may Your Spirit empower us to love, so that the ways we choose to relate with others will always be acceptable and pleasing in Your sight. Amen.
