We imitate the God we serve. The authenticity of our spirituality and faith lives can therefore be measured by how well we align ourselves with the revealed understanding of our God. Paul states in today's reading that God is the "Father of compassion and the God of all encouragement" (2 Cor. 1:3). Let us strive to use every opportunity to encourage others, to help build their confidence and affirm their self-worth. May we also be attentive to the suffering of others. By feeling their pain and joining all our suffering with the crucified Christ, we may be instruments of God's healing love and His saving presence for all. Lord Jesus, help me to draw close to You, so that as my love and knowledge of You grows deeper, Your Spirit will empower me to imitate You and be a source of good news for others. Amen.
