Today's Byte

Do we truly trust the Lord at all times and seek first His kingdom? We reveal our priority by the energy and time we give to it. Our encounter with the Lord in His Word and Eucharist should be our top priority. But if other activities, emotions, tiredness and habitual distractions get in the way and result in our absence from Church and limited or no time spent in quiet time with the Lord, then we need to ask ourselves what really is our priority? We will always have responsibilities which compete for our time. Our studies, job, family, health and membership in groups will demand our attention and input. However, “unless the Lord builds the house, the labourers labour in vain” (Ps. 127:1). The disciples who made Him their priority had not only their needs satisfied, but also saw the crowd filled (Mk. 8:18-21). What is our priority? Lord Jesus, help me to make You and celebrating Your saving presence in Church as my top priority, by honestly addressing the attractions and removing the distractions in my life. Amen.
