Belief is a culmination of ‘seeing’ through three eyes. Our physical eyes enable us to see the good in creation and in others. The ‘eyes’ of our heart make us see people as opportunities to love. Seeing with the ‘eyes’ of faith helps us to appreciate that God blesses and works in the lives of all people, irrespective of how we view them. The Jews saw with their physical eyes the good works of Jesus. However, because the eyes of their hearts and faith were closed, they refused to believe in Him or give Him support. They accused Him of blasphemy and wanted to stone Him (Jn. 11:33), a result of their blindness. Today, we pray to see the glory of God at all times. Lord Jesus, help us to praise You as we see Your goodness in creation, to love you with all our hearts as we see Your face in others, and to serve You who work in the lives of all people. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
