Every story is enhanced with a hero who is courageous and makes sacrifices for the good of others. In the movie ‘Dark Knight’, we see the fictional character, Batman, willing to not only fight crime, but also take the blame for the sins of others, and becomes the ‘lamb of sacrifice’ for the benefit of the city of Gotham. In today’s gospel, we hear the real story of a true hero who took on the sins of others, even though He was innocent. Caiaphas said that it is better for “one man to die instead of the people, so that the whole nation may not perish” (Jn. 11:50). Jesus our Lamb, sacrificed for our sins, deserves all our love, praise and worship. Hosanna forevermore! Lord Jesus, as we thank and praise you for being our hero, may the service we offer for Your glory be pleasing in Your sight. Amen.
