One of the greatest moments of joy is when a loved one who was absent for a while returns home. Children who go off to study, adults who go overseas to work, family who migrated, friends who we have not seen for a long time, when they come back to visit, the happiness of the encounter can be exhilarating. Sadly, they leave. In the gospel, Jesus tells us to be ready for his return (Lk. 12:35). He, who is faithful to His promise, will return and bring us true joy. However, unlike the human experience of visiting then leaving, our Lord’s second coming will result in taking us to Himself for eternity. May this truth inspire us to keep our light of faith burning brightly. Lord Jesus, as we anticipate your return, give us the grace we need to be lights shining brightly for your kingdom, our eternal home. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
