Our God wants His house to be full (Lk. 14:23). He has designated a place and space for each of us at the eternal ‘banquet’ in heaven. His gracious invitation to us is based on His love for us, not on any merits of our own. Our admittance to this feast is based on the following truths observed in today’s gospel pericope (Lk. 14:15-24): 1. Although God invites us into His house, we are free to accept or reject this offer. We may offer excuses for absence, or readily comply. 2. To get to the feast, we have to follow His instructions - walking in His ways, yielding to His Spirit, and sharing His love and mercy to all. 3. Each of us is sent to go out and bring others to the feast. Our faith lives must be active, engaging and give witness to the joy of the Lord. Lord Jesus, may Your Spirit empower us to not only accept Your invitation to spend eternity with You at the banquet in our Father’s house, but also have the zeal to bring others to You by the witness of our lives. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
