There is a difference between knowing something from ‘my head’ as opposed to believing something from ‘my heart.’ Ideally, both should work together. One should take the time to properly learn about any subject, so that conviction is embraced. In today’s gospel, we hear the Centurion telling Jesus, “Just say the word, and my servant will be healed” (Mt. 8:8). Like many people, he would have heard about the power of Jesus, but unlike the crowd, he trusted completely in the Lord. What is the state of our own faith? Lord Jesus, help me to have faith as strong as the Centurion. May I learn how to trust in your power with all my mind and heart. Amen.
