We now begin our Lenten observance. This Season is a gift from God for us to turn away from sin and turn back to Him so that we may live. The Lord does not desire the death of a sinner, so He died in our place. Ours is now the task to live for Him and walk with Him. Jesus highlights three practices for us to embrace (Mt. 6:1-6, 16-18). These all impact our minds, bodies and souls. Prayer allows our minds to connect with a loving God who guides our path. Fasting disciplines our appetites. Almsgiving benefits others. Walk in love. Lord Jesus, may our desire to follow You be evidenced by our prayer, fasting and almsgiving. May these be acceptable sacrifices in your sight for Your glory and our salvation. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
