Our Church’s morning prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours begins with the words, “O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall declare Your praise.” Our praise and thanksgiving to God should gladden our hearts and revive our spirits. Our words should not only show our real connection with God, but also reveal our bond as a family of God. Every family will experience moments of togetherness and times of fracture. The former fosters love while the latter harbours pain. In the gospel (Lk. 11:14-23), the healed mute spoke and people gathered. But when they spoke, it threatened division. In all circumstances, do our words lead to unity, reconciliation and oneness? Lord Jesus, may the words of our mouths glorify Your name, and be used as signs to foster unity with You and each other. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
