“For just as the Father has life in Himself, so also He gave to His Son the possession of life in Himself” (Jn. 5:26). The Father who gives life to all, is the divine Mother who never forgets anyone (Is. 49:14-15). It is He who now gives all “judgement to the Son” (Jn. 5:22). Since the Son and the Father are one, how does the Son judge?

Like the Father, the Son gives life (Jn. 5:21). He grants life to those He judges by their good deeds, and condemns those who are wicked. But the latter are children of God who are being called out of their tombs of darkness and sin to live. Salvation and life are available to all through the cross and voice of Jesus. Are we listening?

Lord Jesus, You mercifully heal and restore us through Your sacrifice on the cross. May we use the gift of time to repent from our sins, and choose to listen to Your voice which leads to eternal life. Amen.
