Lenten Bytes

Jesus declares He came not to be served but to serve (Mt. 20:28). The ultimate aim of service is the good of the other. It is an attitude and an action that is simultaneously selfless and solely to benefit the recipient. It calls for an attitude of sacrifice, which means stepping away from the familiar for a greater good. The reality of the Coronavirus demands that we become responsible servants of each other. We observe proper washing of hands and covering our mouths when we cough or sneeze for the good of self and others. We sacrifice our usual greetings handshakes, hugs and a kiss for the benefit of all. We resist hoarding as a sign of true care for all. Lord Jesus, as we prayerfully and physically battle the novel coronavirus, may our choices and actions reveal our call to be servants of all. Amen.
