Lenten Bytes

Christians believe Jesus died for our sins and rose from the dead. We also believe that He will return to take us back to that place He is preparing for us (Jn. 14:3). However, in order to show that we want to be with our Lord forever, we are told to prepare ourselves. There are certain specific requirements we have to observe for our spiritual health. The Bible tells us what to do and what to avoid. Are we listening? Even though our belief is based on the resurrection of Jesus, today’s gospel warns us that there are people who neither listen, nor are “persuaded if someone should rise from the dead” (Lk. 16:31). We are now expending a lot of energy and time on executing all that needs to be done (washing, purchasing, avoiding) to prevent or minimize the spread of the Coronavirus. Are we just as vigilant in our efforts to prepare for the Lord’s return? Lord Jesus, as I profess the power of Your resurrection in my life, help me to be just as vigilant in doing what is necessary for my physical and spiritual health. Amen.
