God calls and empowers us to be good news for others. This encompasses both rewards and challenges. There is a feeling of satisfaction that arises when one listens to the Lord and lives by His words. There is a real sense of accomplishment when one is attuned to the Spirit and shares His life-giving word. The reward of peace in our minds and hearts is the true test as to whether what we share is from our God or ego. Discernment from the Spirit is to be sought before we say or share anything. This is a real challenge when an overemphasis on the self becomes a barrier to the grace of God. When we add the attitude of the listeners in any context, the task can be daunting. Paul gives us three keys to evangelization: humility before God; a word to benefit the listener; invitation to repentance and faith (Acts 20:19-21). May our words and lives lead all to God. Holy Spirit, enlighten our minds so that we may share Your life-giving words to all who come into our lives. May the light of Your love shine brightly through us. Amen.
