A heart given in love will always seek to be connected to another, and desires the good and well-being of others. Today we celebrate the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She who gave her heart and entire life to the plan of God, now sees this same heart in anxious concern over her missing son Jesus (Lk. 2:48). She rejoiced in finding Him, but her heart would break again at His crucifixion. Since love never dies, and does not take comfort in separation, God would heal her heart and give her complete joy when she experienced the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. He who was lost was once more found, and her heart would beat with happiness as they are forever united in heaven. Do we give our hearts and lives fully to our God? If we do, then like Mary, the reward of eternal life with Jesus will be ours. Loving Father, fill us with Your grace so that, like Mary, we may love You with all our heart. May our lives keep us united with Jesus our Saviour in this life and the next. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
