Are you feeling alone? It is possible to live with family members and still feel alone. It is true that people can belong to institutions and feel isolated. It is a common experience to have many friends on social media platforms yet struggle with being lonely. Sickness and it‘s woes, depression and it’s anxieties, friends without connection, are instances in which many succumb to despair and feel alone in their experiences. The Official who lost his daughter and the woman who suffered from a haemorrhage are two examples of people who feel alone in their pain (Mt. 9:18-22). But both reached out to the Lord, and their healing effected a re-connection with God and their respective people. It is in those moments of loneliness that God truly reveals His power and love (Hos. 2:16). In the presence of the Lord, we are never alone. Have faith in Him. Loving Father, in the wilderness of our grief and pain, we believe that You are with us and healing us. May we never fail to draw close to You and find comfort in Your arms. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
