The road to perfection is a life-long, step by step process. This involves continuous prayer, ongoing introspection, discerned evaluation and meaningful actions. These are combined with a spirit of humility and a genuine desire to become all that we are meant to be, growing in grace and favour with God and like-minded people. In today’s gospel, Jesus paints a picture of how people slowly become perfect over the passage of time (Mt. 19:16-22). Belief in a good God spurs a desire to observe His word in our lives. The more we align our wills to God, the greater will become our desire to divest ourselves of material things, and seek things that are eternal. Lord Jesus, may Your word and Spirit guide us in our daily lives. Grant us the grace to grow in goodness, so that we may honour You and joyfully anticipate eternity with You. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
