We all need to make provisions and take practical steps in meeting our expenses and daily needs. Education and employment; fiscal awareness and implementation; prioritizing our needs over wants; storage and sacrifice, all contribute to attaining a certain peace of mind and stability through the demands of life. Money is a necessity. Why does Jesus state that it is hard for the rich to enter the kingdom of God (Mt. 19:23)? It is not the wealth that is evil but the love and drive to attain it. Many people find the energy and time to pursue riches, but have no time for God, Church or things spiritual. They think wealth makes them superior and invincible. Slippery is this slope. Lord Jesus, help us to genuinely seek first Your kingdom, knowing in faith that everything else, especially our salvation and citizenship, will be granted to us. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
