Believers who aim to live spiritual lives, even as they struggle with their own imperfections, often gain insight where people and experiences are concerned. Jesus not only discerned the presence of an unclean spirit, but also had command over him (Lk. 4:33-36). This text affirms the power of the Spirit to identify and judge (1 Cor. 2:10b-16), even when others are blind to the existing reality.
Unfortunately, not everyone is open to the ways that the Spirit identifies ailments so that help and healing may be attained. The Spirit comes to save and not condemn. Today, ask for the Spirit to identify those areas in our lives that we need His grace, mercy and love to overcome and attain victory in Jesus. Come Holy Spirit, and fill us with Your wisdom and knowledge. May we be open to all Your guidance and insight, so that we may choose to grow in ways that please You. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
