Every birthday is a celebration of life, joy and all the blessings God bestows. Each life not only becomes a beacon of hope, but is expected to engender happiness and goodness in our world. This is even more significant for mothers and potential mothers. Every mother’s life is precious, and is also made more significant by the impact she has on her child. Today we celebrate the feast of the nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Her life of faith and trust in God, surrendering to His will and word, and being a positive example for Jesus are beautiful spiritual qualities that every mother and father should imitate. Today, let us give thanks for all the people in our lives, and like Mary, reveal that we are loving disciples. Loving Father, You gave life to Mary and chose her to be the mother of Your Son. Teach us how to imitate her virtues, as we strive to bring the joy of Christ to the world. Amen.
