We can never please people. Whether we fast or eat (Mt. 11:18-19), there will be negative comments by others. We are called to be the Lord’s lights who shine in the darkness. If our aim is to please Him, then our fasting in the midst of indulgence and our gratitude in the presence of plenty, serve not only as signs of being counter-cultural, but also provide the simple witness to others that we belong to our God whose kingdom is beyond this world.
Strive to glorify the Lord in all things. Please Him as best as we can and shine as His lights.
Lord Jesus, You revealed by Your life that Your ultimate aim was to do Your Father’s will. May we imitate Your actions, and allow Your word and Spirit to guide our daily choices and actions which lead to Your glory and honour. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
