Each line of Mary’s beautiful Magnificat (Lk. 1:46-56) can be taken on its own merit and be used as a source of fruitful contemplation. For example, when we contemplate Lk. 1:51, “He has shown the strength of His arm”, we come to some comforting realizations. Our God is ready to lift us up when we are down. His arm shields and protects us at all times. His touch heals as He gently leads us in His ways. Like Mary, we too proclaim His greatness.
Loving Lord, as we prepare for Christmas, our activities become busier with planning and executing dinners, exchanging gifts and visiting family and friends. Despite our increased pace of life, may we choose moments to stop and pay attention to You, the reason for the Season. Help us to ponder Your revealed word so that we can gain true peace. Amen.
