Two years ago, today, Mom died. Although time has passed, the pain for Dad and me is still as real and as raw as if it was yesterday. We are truly grateful to the family and friends who have been towers of strength and love during this time. As Dad and I give comfort to each other every day, we are at peace knowing Mom is with the Lord in a better place.
Death is a reality of life. Our Lord, whose birth we celebrate at Christmas, dies on the cross. Yet it is through His death that the gift of eternal life is granted to all who believe in Him. We are reminded that “Whoever possess the Son has life” (1 Jn. 5:12). Let us claim the Lord daily in our lives, so that we will inherit eternal life with Him and all the departed.
Lord Jesus, You are our resurrection and our life. Grant a place in Your Father’s house to all our loved ones who have died. May we lovingly choose to follow You in this life, so that we can joyfully walk with You into the promise and reality of eternal life. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
