We usually imitate what is familiar, or arrive at a conclusion - based on the limited facts - on what we know. This reality is evident in today’s gospel (Lk. 9:7-9). Jesus was so impressive in His ministry that He was called, ‘John’, ‘Elijah’ or one of the ’ancient prophets’.
When it comes to our own lives, we are called to draw close to the Lord and become more familiar with His words. The more we grow in knowledge and love of the Lord, the greater is our task to imitate Him in our lives. The acid test is: do others identify us as Jesus?
Lord Jesus, Your service and sacrifice went beyond all the ancient prophets to reveal that You are our Saviour. May we choose to imitate You and reveal Your love to all people. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
