Today’s gospel (Lk. 10:1-9) highlights two important truths. As Jesus sent the Disciples ahead of Him to prepare the towns for His intended visit, so too we are sent by the Lord to prepare the hearts and lives of all people for His second coming.
Jesus sent the Disciples to proclaim the Kingdom of God. At the end of Mass, this too is our task. We are not sent to proclaim or build our own kingdoms. There is no need to compete, divide or destroy another’s work. We are workers for the Lord.
Lord Jesus, we pray not only for more labourers for Your harvest, but also for the wisdom to see that we are sent to build Your kingdom and not our egos. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
