In a religious context, a Priest is a mediator between the Divine and the people. The Priest offers prayers for the self and for the people. This does not negate anyone praying to God personally, but is part of the mindset of the gathering crowd to worship.
We have in Jesus our eternal High Priest (Heb. 4:14-15). He is the One mediator who works through human mediators, and who accepts our prayers and grants healing (Lk. 17:11-19). May we never hesitate to gather in His name and give Him sincere thanks.
Lord Jesus, accept the prayers of thanksgiving and sacrifice of praise that we offer to You. May the love and healing we experience from You, spur us to offer fitting worship. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
