The cleansing of the physical temple in Jerusalem by Jesus (Jn. 2:13-22), is a prelude to the spiritual cleansing of our bodies, which are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 3:16). In the same way the temple in Jerusalem had to be re-awakened to its true purpose of prayer and worship, so too our bodies are re-modelled through the death and resurrection of our Lord, to live in holiness and offer fitting praise to Him. Let us open ourselves to the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, for He helps us to pray and empowers us to bear fruit that lasts.
Come Holy Spirit, and fill our hearts and lives. May we yield to Your promptings so that we will be worthy ‘temples’ who offer fitting praise and service for Your glory. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
