Am I a wise or foolish person? Our Lord tells us that the truly wise are those who are ready and prepared (Mt. 25:1-13). The wise know the bridegroom - the Lord - will come, and will take them to the wedding feast in heaven. The wise therefore keep ‘watch’ in prayer and have the ‘oil’ of faith and good works to light their way.
The foolish are those who neither make time for prayer, nor pay attention to the word of the Lord which guides our daily lives. The foolish are those whose ‘oil’ is based on the ego and senses being satisfied, neither of which lasts for long nor allows their entry into heaven. Choose today which group, the wise or foolish, you belong.
Loving Father, You prepare a banquet for those who prove ourselves wise and desire Your company forever. May the ‘oil’ of our faith keep our feet on the right path, so that we may walk securely in Your presence in this life, and be led by You into the gladness of Your eternal feast. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
