There are two truths I have personally found that bring peace. First, any work undertaken, one should not waste time looking to see who is pulling their weight and who is not. Simply do your best with the task at hand, and let the result speak for itself.
Second, although we show connection by listening to each other, too many restless people neither speak with facts nor use words that foster relationship. In the midst of many voices, choose to sit at the feet of the Lord and make His words our priority.
If Martha’s main concern was to please the Lord by her service, she would not have been bothered by Mary’s choice. Mary heard Martha’s grumbling, but the Lord was her salvation (Lk. 10:38-42). Let us learn from them, and strive to be at peace.
Loving Father, may the work we do give You honour. May we not be distracted nor bothered by those who do not do their share. In the midst of divergent opinions and voices, may the sweet sound of Your voice lead us into the paths of comfort, peace and joy. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
