One sure way to feel demotivated in life is to pay more attention to what people do and say rather than focus on the actions and words of our loving God. Our good Lord does and says good things. People are not God and will disappoint. Like Jesus, we too will not only be the targets of fake news, but also it will come from Judas - those close to us.
Our Lord gives us the answer to remain focussed and excited about our mission to engage and evangelise our world (Lk. 13:18-21). The mustard seed that we allow in our minds is to be the word spoken by the Lord. The works that we do has to start with the yeast that is the result of allowing God to touch our hearts, which then spurs us to do good.
Since the little things matter and will grow, then let the explosion of our works and words all start with the most important seed of all: the love of our God.
Father, from the ‘seed’ of Your word, You created all things. Through the ‘’yeast’ of Your Word made flesh, You refresh and renew all of creation. As we ponder the truth that little things become big events, may we guard against those small seeds that neither build Your kingdom nor help each other to grow in Your ways. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
