Today is the last day of the Liturgical Year. We knew it was coming, and we began our own preparations for the Season of Advent which starts tomorrow. Unlike dates set for the end of the Liturgical and Calendar Year, we are not given the date for our demise.
Our end will come on a day and time that we do not know. That is why we are told by the Lord not to get lost in carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life (Lk. 21:34-36) which do not help us to prepare properly for death. Be ready to die and meet our God.
Loving Lord, we know that living and dying are constitutive elements in the journey of life. May we never take any day of life for granted, but use every moment to live in the joyful comfort of Your presence here on earth and prepare to meet You after our death. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
