Scripture tells us that love is patient and kind (1 Cor. 13:4). This truth is highlighted by our Lord in today’s gospel (Jn. 20:24-29). Despite leading, teaching and feeding His Disciples, they ran away from Him, and denied Him by their word and distance. Thomas disbelieved in the promise and power of the Lord’s resurrection.
But rather than rebuke or abandon them, Jesus remained faithful to them. He appeared to them and imparted His gift of peace. He affirmed His loyal love for them and leads them out of fear. He responds to the doubt of Thomas and reveals His wounds, endured for the sake of all. Today, pray for the grace to manifest true love that pleases our God.
Lord Jesus, as You are patient and kind to us, help us to be the same for all. May our love for You be evident in the ways we embody and share love as revealed in Your word. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
