The joy of the Lord is not only my strength (Neh. 8:10), it is also infectious. In a time where we are more conscious of viral infections in our bodies and computers; the painful reality of caustic words and personalities; the sad impact of fake news and false judgements, we see today the difference the fruit of joy makes in our lives (Lk. 1:39-56).
Mary and Elizabeth are filled with joy because they are both gifted with motherhood by the Lord. Personal joy radiates into communal joy, as both women engage in praising the Lord for His goodness; celebrating each other’s blessing with no hint of jealousy or negativity, and even causes the infant in the womb to leap. Today, pray for real joy.
Lord Jesus, in Your presence, there is fulness of joy. Help us to draw close to You at all times, so that the joy we have in You may bring happiness and life to everyone. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
