On a spiritual plane, laws are given to not only know what is right, but also to counteract the reality of selfishness. If our hearts are right with God, we do not need to be told to honour Him or place Him first. If we truly love our parents, we do not need a law or its interpretation that requires us to care for them (Mk. 7:1-13). Love fulfils and supersedes the law.
Lord Jesus, Your unselfish life and unlimited love shows us the way to our Father’s heart. May we allow Your word to shape our minds, Your grace to mould our hearts and Your Spirit to guide our daily lives. Amen.
