It is a sad reality of the spiritual life that people who are bathed in the light of love can take it for granted, and not appreciate the life giving rays that are emitted. Jesus, God’s only Son and the Light of the world (Jn. 3:16-18), poured out His life for our salvation. Yet how many people are indifferent or distant from Him, including those who go to Church?
This ingratitude from people towards God is also evident in our relationships with each other. Parents make sacrifices for their children; spouses give up personal needs for the sake of the other; believers offer prayers and minister to the needs of others, but for some it is never enough. Let the light of love continue to shine, because God is our reward.
Lord Jesus, may the radiant light of Your love and mercy always shine upon us. Help us to reveal this same light to others, knowing that You are the reason and reward of our lives. Amen.
