Think of someone you may know in any area of life, status or relationship, who you consider either difficult to love, or who you would prefer to take residence on a planet in a galaxy far away (lol). This person radiates an aura of restlessness and often says things that stir much discontent and darkness. Such an individual is a reality of life.
Our instinct is to avoid this psychologically immature person. But we are hit with a sobering thought by Jesus. He said, “I will not reject anyone who comes to me” (Jn. 6:37). The love of God goes beyond emotions and experiences, but simply loves the individual who He has created. As the Lord does, so must we: love friend and foe as commanded.
Lord Jesus, You love the Saint and sinner. You forgave the crowd who crucified You. Help us to reveal Your light by loving all people, especially those difficult to love. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
