Jesus makes a startling remark in today’s gospel. He intimates, “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draw him” (Jn. 6:44). Salvation begins and ends with our Father. It is the Father who creates, calls, blesses, guides and saves.
Since the Father and the Son are one, both work in tandem to draw us into eternal life with them. Their care for each of us is evident in the example of Philip being sent to the eunuch to teach and baptise him (Acts 8:26-40). Truly our God is worthy to be praised.
Lord Jesus, Your tender care and sincere love for us make us desire Your company at all times. May our worship of You in this life, prepare us to spend eternity with You. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
