We are priceless pearls. A pearl is made when an oyster/mussel secretes materials to cover an irritant that has entered its body. Without the irritant, there is no trigger to defend the oyster that leads to the formation of something beautiful and valuable.
Jesus speaks of the hatred and persecution, true believers will experience (Jn. 15:18-21). We cannot prevent or stop these ‘irritants’ in our lives who will always be present. But if we ‘cover’ them with love and patience, our lives become pearls of great price.
Lord Jesus, “You are more precious than silver and more costly than gold”. May Your Spirit empower us to love, forgive and be patient with those who irritate our peace. Help us to show our true value by choosing to shine as Your light, whenever we encounter the darkness of hate, persecution and mental instability from others. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
