To whom do we turn when the pressures of life seem insurmountable? We all face people, heavy responsibilities and contexts that drain our energy, rob us of peace and appear as opponents. Jeremiah cried out to the Lord to hear him, and also to listen to his adversaries (Jer. 18:19). His cry to the Lord should be the model for our spiritual lives.
Like Jeremiah, we too should instinctively turn to the Lord in our moments of pain. Prayer, first and foremost, is the conduit to our God, who is able to give us the strength to face the opposition we encounter. We also commend the pain caused by people and situations to our God for Him to manage. Trust in the Lord, and He will always raise us up.
Lord Jesus, You fully commended Yourself to Your Father. You even prayed that Your enemies be forgiven. Teach us how to trust in Your power and love at all times. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
