Lenten Bytes

What are you afraid of? Some fear death, while others fear loneliness, rejection, failure, loss of income, deteriorating health, or even the ‘darkness’ of uncertainty. Mary was no exception to fear. But she is given the comforting words, “Do not be afraid” (Lk. 1:30).

When we have faith in the Lord and claim His power in our lives, we habitually learn to allay our fears and trust in His love. Perfect love casts out fear (1 Jn. 4:18). Name your fears and take them before the Lord. He will always comfort and protect us.

Lord Jesus, You are my deliverer. Strengthen my faith in You, so that through the power of Your Spirit, the gift of faith in You will empower me to walk in confidence. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
