Lenten Bytes

Do we take time to reflect on what our lives would be if our God did not grant us His mercy? Given our human weakness, what would become of us if the Lord did not forgive us? If God is to judge each of us, would anyone escape condemnation?

The truth is without God’s mercy, we are all guilty and deserve to be condemned. It is with this humbling fact that we need to pay special attention to today’s gospel (Lk. 6:36-38). As we thank God for His mercy, are we willing to stop judging and be merciful?

Lord Jesus, You reveal that what we receive from You we are to extend to others. Humble our pride and remind us that without Your love and mercy, we are condemned because of our guilt and sins. Help us to ‘measure’ to others what You generously bestow on us. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
