The parable of the rich man and Lazarus (Lk. 16:19-31) is really a portrait of God’s love and concern for all people. Some have been blessed with wealth by Him, while others are in need. God’s ultimate desire is that to whom much is given, much is expected.
The rich man had all he needed but did not see it fit to address the needs of Lazarus. How do we glorify God through our wealth? Our gratitude for God’s favours should spur us to be sources of blessings for those in need. Do we imitate God’s generosity?
Loving Father, in a world of inequality, Your love for all people remains constant. May those who You have blessed with wealth address those who are in need, so that all may live a quality of life that motivates us to praise and thank You for every good we receive. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
