In yesterday’s gospel from John, we read that Jesus gave the dipped bread to Judas, the one who would betray Him. In today’s gospel from Matthew (26:14-25), Judas dips his hand in the dish with Jesus. Although both gospels portray a different experience at the last supper with Jesus, both agree that Jesus was betrayed and died for our sins.
We all have experiences in life. We also know that the same experience by two people, or a group, can yield different interpretations. This is an inescapable reality. What is important is that people do not allow their varied interpretations and attached emotions to give room to darkness. Every effort must be applied to ensure that life, love, mercy and peace reign.
Lord Jesus, You sacrificed Yourself on the cross as the Lamb whose blood wash away our sins. Despite our different beliefs, interpretations, mindsets and personalities, save us and heal us. May Your love for us always be a source of comfort and strength. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
